Gout typically presents with sudden, intense pain, redness, swelling, and tenderness in a single joint, most commonly the big toe (podagra). Attacks may also involve multiple joints and can be accompanied by fever.
For continuation of allopurinol treatment in individuals aged 18 and above who are already on allopurinol therapy for gout.
Eligibility:
• Adults aged 18 years and older who have previously been prescribed allopurinol (for at least 3 months) and require continuous treatment for ongoing therapy and prevent of recurrent flares.
• Patients with no history of adverse reactions or contraindications to allopurinol
• Patients with a confirmed diagnosis of gout based on clinical history, examination, or relevant investigations.
• Patients who are stable on their current allopurinol dose not requiring dose adjustments.
• Patient is stable and has completed a serum urate test and a renal function test (eGFR) in the last 6 months. View less
